Seed National Committee:

        A.    Setting scientific and practical strategy to make seeds available for farmers, producers, and investors, with various orders and at appropriate times; and studying proposed selling and buying prices;

       B.    Setting a policy for seed production through studying the actual situation and promoting the chain of seed production;

 C.    Directing and proposing research policies in the fields of plant breeding, variety deriving, and seed technology;

    D.    Deciding laboratory and field standard specifications for seeds and other crops;

             E.   Following up the actual situation of seed production, importation, and industry to be aware of shortcomings and ways of treatment;

             F.    Suggesting special policies for activating the private sector seed industry;

           G.   Setting up seminars and workshops on seed industry inside and outside Iraq and inviting a number of specialists to them;

           H.    Building cooperative relations with related international organizations;

           I.   Disseminating knowledge and awareness on the importance of good-quality seeds among producers through orienting related bodies; and

J.    Proposing subsidy policy for seeds and some other important crops.
